House System

House system at St Mary’s

At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, our house system plays a fundamental role in enrichening the school experience for all students. Each child is assigned to one of our houses, creating a sense of belonging and fostering camaraderie among peers.

As part of this system, students actively engage in various house competitions and events, promoting teamwork, respect, and healthy competition. The house system not only encourages academic excellence but also nurtures the holistic development of each child, aligning perfectly with our mission to live wisely, think deeply, and love generously. Through participation in house activities, students learn the value of collaboration, leadership, and school spirit, making their journey at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School both fun and rewarding.

The house captains are elected from the Year 6 student cohort, entirely voted for by the children in their house.

Across each term, house points are awarded to the children and these are totalled up every week. The winning house is cheered on in our weekly Thank You assembly. At the end of each term, the winning house is rewarded with a non-uniform day. House Captains have a weekly opportunity for bragging rights in assembly!
