Our Pastoral Support
At St Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School, our pastoral support system is designed to ensure that every child feels safe, valued, and understood. We recognize the importance of emotional and spiritual well-being in fostering a positive learning environment.
Our dedicated staff works collaboratively with parents and the local community to provide support tailored to each child’s unique needs. We pride ourselves on knowing each child as an individual. Our caring staff work closely with families to ensure that every pupil feels safe, valued, and supported throughout their time with us. Whether a child is facing challenges or simply needs a listening ear, we are here to help.
Through friendly initiatives, mentorship, and access to counseling services, we strive to create an atmosphere where children can thrive academically and personally. Our commitment to pastoral care is rooted in our Catholic values, promoting a culture of respect, compassion, and inclusivity for all students.
Our Designated Senior Mental Health Lead is Mrs Wallace. Mrs Williams and Mrs Charnock are trained mental health first aiders.
Our pastoral support includes:
- Daily care and guidance from teachers and teaching assistants who build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
- A pastoral lead who oversees support for pupils experiencing emotional or social difficulties.
- Regular check-ins for children who may be struggling with anxiety, friendships, or changes at home.
- Circle time and RHE (relationships and health education) lessons that promote emotional literacy, resilience, and positive relationships.
- Links with outside agencies where specialist support is needed, always with parental involvement and consent.
We believe that every child is a unique gift from God, and our mission is to help them flourish in a community of love, respect, and understanding.
If you wish to contact Mrs Williams, our SENCO, she can provide information and guidance for families. Whether it be a face-to-face meeting or a phone call, Mrs Williams is always happy to help.
